Lately I haven't been on posting movie trailers and featured artists at all, and I'm sorry about that! My cold is sort of gone, its still tagging along though. But I feel fine so that's the plus side! :)

EGYPT'S SUNKEN TREASURES

Anyways, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on an exhibition I went to the other day, which displayed these really awesome Egyptian sculptures and artifacts that have been asleep in the bottom of the ocean for quite a long time now! :)

The sculptures gave me the shivers... they looked so alive and to me it looked like they had some sort of special presence that lingered there. It was pretty wicked as well though, cause somehow it kind of makes you smile. The thought of an artifact brought out from the deep sea, perfected even in pieces (or not), is just fascinating stuff for me.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT || My Thoughts

Rating: ★★★★

Summary:
After an Alaskan town is plunged into darkness for a month, it is attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires.

WARNING: SPOILERS!

I went to see this movie a week back with a friend of mine! I was actually kind of psyched about watching this cause it looked creepy and cool (I needed that dose o' excitement & thrill that day!) And it turned out to be a good movie, although I'm not quite sure if it was truly, overwhelmingly awesome or anything. It left me feeling a bit frustrated.

Here's the bits I liked...

- The ancient vampires talking, I liked what Marlow (the leader vampire) was saying especially cause it made sense (even if it was creepy, lol)
- The sudden jolts I got after watching someone get kidnapped in the dark
- Last bit where Eben injects Billy's infected blood so he could save Stella. (Now that's true, heart-wrenching sacrifice...)

I'm not a big fan of their eating habit though. Made me sick watching them eat, cause it was so messy and nasty. (Although if they ever were to exist, it'll look pretty realistic!)

I was rather curious about the language the vampire leader, Marlow, was speaking. So I looked it up and it turns out that ironically, it is the Language of the Angels aka Enochian. :) It does sound pretty neat and the alphabets are fascinating! You can have a look here if you'd like! ;D

Here's the bits that got me wondering...

- How Jake was able to escape the vampires that attacked him, but not his grandmother (Of course, she probably didn't stand a chance in the speed element. But wouldn't the same thing apply somehow to Jake?)
- Why the vampire Marlow said something about not converting anyone into them, and yet one of Eben's best friends was turned. I guess it was accidental, but still, its pretty weird.
- The vampires were trying to track down the humans in the houses, but they could've just busted up every home if they wanted. Why take the time to hunt these humans down in time-consuming ways?

HOWEVER the movie also had some kick-ass scenes! :D
Here's some I thought were awesome...

- The vampires coming after the beginning of the 30 nights (the scene where Eben and Stella are in the car and a vampire tries to stop them)
- Another car scene where the vampires try to make Eben and Stella get out of the vehicle by flipping it over. That was frightening!
- The ending scene where the oil starts to drip down the snow, and how the match in vampire Marlow's hand leaves from his mangled fingers.

(When I saw this scene, I couldn't help but smirk - I just wanted to say, Run, -beech-, runnn for your liiiife! lol. I have a weird sense of humor. )

All in all, it wasn't a bad movie at all! The acting was average! Not super awesome and over the top awesomeness, but enough to keep my attention focused on the movie! :D

THE BOOK THIEF
by Markus Zusak

Rating: ★★★★★

It is 1939. Nazi Germany. The country is holding its breath.
Death has never been busier, and will become busier still.

By her brother's graveside, Liesel's Meminger's life is changed when she picks up a single object, partially hiden in the snow. It is The Grace Digger's Handbook, left there by accident, and it is her first act of book thievery. So begins a love affair with books and words, as Liesel, with the help of her accordion-playing foster father, learns to read. Soon she is stealing books from Naxi book-burnings, the mayor's wife's library, wherever there are books to be found.
But these are dangerous times. When Liesel's foster family hides a Jew in their basement, Liesel's world is both opened up and closed down.
In superbly crafted writing that burns with intensity, award-winning author, Markus Zusak has given us one of the most enduring stories of our time.

~ * ~

There's a few things I crave most in life, and one of them is a good, enjoyable book. The kind of book that is life-changing and will literally leave you breathless after shutting it closed. And The Book Thief was one of them! Now that I have finished reading it, I'm glad I took the chance to pick up this book and read it. In all truths, I had actually been rather skeptical of it. When I first read the book summary, I was kinda frightened actually. Some of the book covers had a grim reaper on it, dancing with a child, and it was enough to get me creeped out, lol. :) However, I saw the cover for the one I'm holding now (the one where there's a line of dominoes on it), and my interest was tweaked. The summary was intriguing - but what made me grab onto this book was that Death was the narrator of the story. Now that, I thought, was a unique idea! :D

CHRIS DAUGHTRY!

Being a fan of him since hearing his first album, 'Daughtry', it's probably not surprise really that I am featuring him now! And also because I've listened to his recent new album, 'Leave This Town', and it's struck the rocky part of my heart tremendously! His edgy music has softened a little, but in a very good way! Each song is emotional, powerful and overwhelming! Some of the lyrics make me feel like I've been gutted, while others give me a sense of hope that bubbles up from the bottom of my heart. His definitely worth a listen! Check him out and his new album!

SUPERNATURAL || SEASON 5
'SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL'

Guess what?

Supernatural's Season 5 now has TWO MORE PROMOS!

And both of them are spine-chilling! It gave me the heebie jeebies! :D Lol! But I love them both! I wish September would come already, so we wouldn't have to wait!

Can't wait for September 10th! *heart beats fast*

FIRST PROMO

This is the first one, which I previously featured on my blogger!
I think its kind of hilarious that the words 'Sounds like Hell' turns to 'Hell is Here' cause its so darn quick (when it took one whole season for Lucifer to rise, lol. The season has been 'sounding' of Lucifer all episode long! :P) Anyways, I love this promo! :D That creepy sound is just... creeppppyyy!

SECOND PROMO

-grins- Now this is ironic, really! This promo itself is so evil, lol :D
It gave me the chills after watching this! The voice -shivers uncontrollably- is terrifying. (For some reason, it makes me want to cackle&giggle like the weird fangirl I am, lol. :P)

THIRD PROMO

Haunting, exciting and an utterly MIND-BLOWING promo! :D
It bloody ROCKS! XD I'm loving it! :D

The song used here is
'O Death' by R.I.S.E (Formerly known as Rising Appalachia)!
I'm in love with it! I literally can't stop listening to this song (I keep playing the promo over and over again, lol! XD)
